On August 23rd
2002 I attended a TVR Engineering Performance Technique Day at Jonathan Palmer’s
Bedford Autodrome. Three of us set off together around 6:00 am – Adam in his
Cerbera 4.5, Matt in his 4.5 Chimaera and me in Grizzly, we certainly woke the
neighbours that morning!
As it was my first
track day I cannot make comparisons with other events but certainly the
organisation, safety and enjoyment factors were high, and to me the circuit
seemed perfect for the track-day novice.
Moments to savour for me were catching and passing several Tuscans, mostly it
seemed black ones, watching Neil Anderson from the factory hustle his reflex-
green Tamora round at seemingly impossible speeds and, I am told, the rides in
the racing Tuscans, which were apparently not for the weak stomached! Other
highlights were David in his blue Griff’ treating us to the most outrageous
performance on the slalom course and the 360o spins in front of the
pit straight, of which there were a few!
