Purchased in September 1996, my first TVR was an immaculate Cooper Green S3c
with Doeskin (Beige) interior. Registered in March 1993 it had 33,000 on the
clock when I got it.
As a first introduction to TVR the S3c was perfect, a 2.9 litre V6, rear wheel drive, hand built with plenty of leather and walnut inside and… a roof that comes off. I was later to learn more about the S series, mine it turned out was a late model S3c with what could be called the S4 bonnet i.e. driving lamps and side-vents instead of the central air-scoop. The S3c (‘c’ for catalyst) has most of the gizmos like electric windows, electric mirrors, electric boot release etc. but retains drum brakes at the rear whereas the S4 got discs all round. Finally there was the V8S, which had the 4.0 ‘Rover’ V8.
For some reason he was known as
"Malty" probably as we happened to be visiting the Eldridge Pope brewery at
the time we thought of it!
