Having
fitted larger wheels the next project was to upgrade the brakes. There are
probably more opinions on brake upgrades than any other subject, so I was not
short of input. The issue as always, unless money is no object, is to decide
what to spend the cash on without first being able to test the end result. To keep to
the TVR style, I
wanted AP Racing 4 x Pot Callipers, but to make my life difficult
I wanted them with the TVR logo as per the Cerbera 4.5. I called
AP who told me they were not available retail, so I called the factory and was
in luck.
Neill
Anderson at TVR Engineering was most helpful in discussing my plans and giving
advice. The first bit of advice was that the design had changed from those
fitted to the Cerbera to those fitted to the Tuscan / Tamora. Original Cerbera
callipers were no longer available so this meant a wait whilst TVR to supplied
Peninsula with my callipers so they could engineer the brackets to fit them.

At
the front together with the AP Racing callipers I have 315mm drilled and grooved
discs. At the rear the standard callipers are retained (as these have the
handbrake mechanism built in) and fitted to brackets to suit the enlarged 300 mm
drilled discs.
Trying them at the Bedford track day confirmed they are indeed excellent, giving substantially more stopping power but with a nice progressive action. The whole project took 9 months from first conversations with Richard Smith at Peninsula to completion but it was thoroughly worth the effort!
